About the Role

Summary: As the GIS Developer, you will be responsible for creation and maintenance of custom applications, you will work in close collaboration with an external team of GIS analysts and developers as well as other teams involved with prospecting and development of renewable projects. Part of your responsibilities will also be working on routine GIS requests for mapping, publishing scripts and web services, configuring mobile web applications, GIS analysis, and other GIS analysis tasks.
The organizational location of this position is: Chicago, IL as an in-person position.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborating with GIS and other teams within development to design in-house tools
• Developing and maintaining web mapping applications, automation processes, and services
• Creating and maintaining Web AppBuilder applications and custom widgets for Web AppBuilder
• Creating custom geoprocessing tools to publish as services
• Create and maintain standard and customized digital maps, including adapting existing and developing new spatial data sources, and designing and producing map layouts for presentations suitable for technical and public audiences
• Manage, analyze, process, project, convert, and display geospatial data (both raster and vector) in various formats
• Ability to prioritize workflow from multiple projects
• Assist in maintaining server-based GIS and web applications
• Research and maintain a variety of spatial and associated attribute data

Requirements

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with web app development products

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of GIS and customization of processes, and knowledge of development trends in GIS mapping.

  • Ability to read, interpret and understand legal descriptions, maps, plans, aerial photographs, and other GIS-related source information

  • Extensive knowledge of cartographic principles dealing with projections, scales, geo-referencing, map layouts and composition

  • Ability to use spatial analysis techniques

  • Proficiency in JavaScript 3.x and 4.x, Python

  • Familiarity with React, Angular, TypeScript, Dojo, SQL, .NET, HTML/CSS

  • Knowledge of GIS development libraries

  • Familiarity with Azure cloud environment and data architecture in Azure

  • Familiarity with creating ETL workflows using FME

  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

  • Familiarity with SQL databases, MS SQL Server, Oracle SQL Developer, postgreSQL

  • Verbal and written communications skills
